The Lord first called us to international adoption in May of 2008 with America World Adoptions. We were Date to Ethiopia (DTE) on May 29, 2009 and received the best call ever on Tuesday morning, October 20, 2009 - "We have two little boys for you!" We traveled to Ethiopia in February of 2010 to bring them home.
You can read about our travels to Ethiopia and more of the journey of our first adoption on our first blog.
We then felt led again to adopt in the Fall of 2011, this time a little girl from China but it was not meant to be. At the time we didn't know why the Lord closed this door to us but when we attended an adoption conference in Indianapolis six weeks later, we could see the Lord's hand at work. We were going back to Africa! Our paperwork was complete by October 2012 and on another great Tuesday morning, November 13, 2012 we got the call we had been anxiously waiting for - "We have a healthy, 18 month old boy for you!" We look forward to the day we can bring him home.
Along the way we have completed more paperwork than I can describe (if you've adopted, you know!), held plenty of fund raisers (we are not a family who by any means can afford international adoptions - the Lord has provided in amazing ways!), laughed lots and cried lots, prayed and prayed, and above all trusted and continue to trust in the God who has called us to walk this path. All the glory and praise to Him!
